On the Monroe County courthouse lawn in Waterloo, Illinois, on any summer Tuesday night you can find a true touch of Americana as the conductor strikes up the Waterloo Municipal Band for another concert. At 8:00 P.M. every Tuesday starting on the first Tuesday after Memorial Day and ending with the last Tuesday in August, the band performs a free concert at the corner of Main Street and Third. Our repertoire includes marches, show tunes, standards, some light classical selections, and yes, a little rock and roll! In keeping with the German heritage of the community, the band also indulges the crowd with an occasional polka. In addition to the regular Tuesday concerts throughout the summer, the band participates in local Memorial Day, festival events and holiday celebrations.
