Oh, how time marches on! Landmark anniversaries are always a great time organizations and events, and are full of celebration and reflection. We are more than ecstatic to be able to celebrate these historic milestones with our members.  From beloved restaurants and attractions to highly anticipated yearly events, this list is your go-to guide to every exciting birthday celebration happening in the Downstate area in 2024!

Starting off strong with establishments and attractions that have important anniversaries this year:

Dairy Haven – Caseyville – 70th Anniversary

For seven decades, Dairy Haven in Caseyville has delighted patrons with its indulgent frozen treats, making it a cherished summertime tradition passed down through generations. Their innovative rotating offerings of exciting flavors are sure to keep you on your toes and out of the sun throughout the season. Check their Facebook page to see what special flavors are currently available, and remember to bring cash, as they do not accept cards.

World’s Largest Golf Club – Casey – 5th Anniversary

Casey has become famous for its abundance of World’s Largest attractions. One of which includes an old-style wooden head golf club that is made from a repurposed telephone pole. 2024 marks the club’s fifth birthday, so make it out to Casey to experience it in its giant glory.

Skyview Drive-In – Belleville – 75th Anniversary

Feeling nostalgic? Maybe you’re just a movie lover. No matter what the reasoning is that draws you towards Skyview, you’re invited to help them celebrate. Having served the greater Metro East for 75 years, they have been a mainstay in the community for generations. So, gas up the car and head on out to catch a film, the old-fashioned way, this summer and help congratulate Skyview Drive-In on its 75th anniversary.

Crooked Creek Winery – Centralia – 10th Anniversary

With a wide array of wine styles for every price range, Crooked Creek Winery is the ultimate stop for wine lovers and experience seekers alike. Now at two locations around Centralia, the Cooney family welcomes you to celebrate ten years of serving their community.


There are also several annual community events that are celebrating landmark anniversaries in 2024. Every event on this list has been pivotal in creating the strong sense of community that stretches across the Downstate region. Each one offers something special, and they are more than happy to welcome long time attendees and newcomers alike!

American Thresherman Association Annual Show – Pinckneyville – 65th Anniversary

Since 1959, the American Thresherman Association has invited people from far and wide to explore the history of farming in America at their Annual August Show. Come out to learn about early steam-powered agricultural equipment, see how lumber is processed, and enjoy one of the largest flea markets in the area!

Art in the Park – Highland – 20th Anniversary

Just outside of the St. Louis area, Art in the Park is a hidden gem for artists and art enjoyers alike. Live jazz bands, family-friendly activities, and over 60 booths showcasing beautiful local artwork await the adventurous traveler in Highland come mid-October. Admission is free, and children are given the added perk of being able to purchase any artwork for just $5, so bring the whole family and peruse the vast expanse of this once-a-year outdoor gallery!

Chili Cookoff – Belleville – 40th Anniversary

Put on your stretchy pants and grab the biggest spoon you can find because the 40th annual Belleville Chili Cookoff is happening this October. Not only can you get a taste of some of the best chili on either side of the Mississippi, but all are invited to work up an appetite in the Chili Chase 5k that accompanies the event. With 60+ vendors and a whole lot of good times, this is a can’t miss event in the Metro East.

Lebanon Fall Festival – Lebanon – 55th Anniversary

Back again for its 55th iteration is the annual Lebanon Fall Festival. Watch the leaves turn as you stroll down the brick streets and see all the interesting things that the local vendors have to offer. From cider to kettle corn, this festival has everything you need to get into the autumn spirit!

Centralia Balloon Fest – Centralia – 35th Anniversary

It’s a bird. It’s a plane. Nope! It’s the Centralia Balloon festival, and it has been leaving visitors in awe (and shock for those afraid of heights) since 1989. Four straight days of showcasing these intriguing flying contraptions are sure to leave a lasting memory.

Metro East Pride – Belleville – 15th Anniversary

Celebrating 15 years of inclusivity in the Metro East! Show up and show your support at the annual Metro East Pride festival in Belleville and enjoy a full day of energetic live entertainment, delicious food, and a welcoming community.
