The day before Ash Wednesday activity at the church hall starts with a German style dinner of pancakes, sausage, applesauce and doughnuts from 5 to 7:30 p.m., and is accompanied by live entertainers providing German music. In keeping with German tradition, children will dress in costume and go “grebbling” door to door to collect doughnuts, then they return to the church hall for a costume contest. Grebbling starts at 5 p.m. in front of the church.
