The City of Belleville and The September 11 Memorial Walkway of Southern Illinois Committee will co-host a Moment of Remembrance Ceremony



Belleville, IL (September 5, 2025) - The City of Belleville, IL, and the September 11 Memorial Walkway of Southern Illinois Committee will co-host a Moment of Remembrance Ceremony on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at 11:30 AM.

Brigadier General Douglas D. Jackson, Chief of U.S. Transportation Command’s Global Operations at Scott Air Force Base, IL, will be the featured guest speaker. The ceremony will also include combined local Fire Department and Police Department Honor Guards.

The annual Moment of Remembrance ceremony honors the victims of 9/11 and takes place at the site of the September 11 Memorial Walkway of Southern Illinois at 1125 S. Illinois Street in Belleville, IL. This local Memorial, featuring a 35.25-foot-long steel column from the fallen World Trade Center in New York, is located on the front lawn of Belleville’s Fire Administration Office and Engine House #4.
