Old Fashioned German Christmas in Maeystown



The village of  Maeystown will be alive with the sights and sounds of Old Fashioned German Christmas on Sunday, December 4, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Throughout the day, visitors may hear hammered dulcimer music, enjoy the woodcarvings of Wayne Laramore, see the wrapped sassafras and feather trees, and learn the art of German paper star folding with Sally Durrer at the Mill Museum. St John Church Hall will be filled with vendors for the Christkindlmarkt while the Victorian Sleigh will be available for photo opportunities outside the Mill. Visitors will find unique shopping at the Maeystown General Store, Katzenjammers and Georgia Mae's Antiques, sweet treats at the Sweet Shoppe and a variety of hot specialty coffee and tea drinks at Around the Corner Coffee Company. Hank & Lilly's Creekside will offer hot spiced wine, chicken and dumplings and a full menu.

Scheduled special events include a Weihnachthaustour (mini house tour) from 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with tickets available for $10 at the General Store, complimentary carriage rides beginning at 1 p.m., the Band Room Brass strolling from Noon - 2 p.m., Sankt Nikolaus strolling through the village beginning at 1:30 p.m., free quilt show at St John Church from Noon - 4 p.m., music by the Valmeyer High School Women's Ensemble from 2 p.m. - 3p.m., a tour of the Corner George Inn at 1:30 p.m., a German Carol Sing in the ballroom of the Corner George Inn from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m., and the lighting of the village Weihnachtsbaum and traditional carol sing at 4:15 p.m. at the Mill Museum.
