In the spirit of keeping the arts alive and to boost the resurgence in our community, The Belleville Mural Project will be installing one mural on W Main St. in Belleville, IL. The goal of the Belleville Mural Project is to make downtown Belleville a destination location in Southern Illinois bringing more foot traffic into the area which will positively impact the success of our downtown businesses.
Artists are invited to submit a design along with a description of the proposed mural and a work sample showing the artists’ style. Artists will be responsible for all their materials required including paint. If traveling from out of area, housing will be supplied by a Belleville Mural Project committee member. Transportation is an artist expense.

The owner of 801 W Main St. (Google Map link for building images - https://bit.ly/3jjyn2s) is looking to install a postcard styled mural with the slogan “Cheers from the Old Brewery District.” We are looking to highlight popular Belleville brands, activities, etc. This mural must also include an interactive element or two for passerby bicyclists, kids, pedestrians, dogs, etc - to name a few ideas. The postcard mural will wrap the east, north, and south sides of the building. The west side of the building will be a colorful installation that coincides with the color palette of the postcard mural. Muralist will be creating both installations at the time of hire. Enter a digital submission of preliminary drawings of your concept along with a page written proposal. Submission should be in a JPEG format with your name and number identifying the drawing. No larger than 1000x1000 pixels at 72dpi.

A current resume and/or bio with a phone number and email address
5 to 10 examples of recent (mural) work. Experience with mural paintings is preferred.
Proposed bid for the completed work and materials.
