PRESS RELEASE For immediate release. Marcus Holland, Executive Director The Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce 210 East Broadway, Centralia, IL 62801 618-532-6789 marcus@centraliachamber.com CENTRALIA HOME EXPO TO FEATURE FOOD TRUCKS AND NEW VENDORS The 16th Annual Greater Centralia Home, Garden, and Business Expo is this weekend on Saturday, February 15, and Sunday, February 16, at the Centralia Recreation Complex. New this year are more local businesses, including outdoor equipment stores and construction companies, and two food trucks, Baldy’s BBQ and Taco Jo’s. With over 60 booths in the Recreation Complex, this is one of the largest years for the Centralia Home Expo. It is also the first home show in our region, with Salem Home Show and Jefferson County Home Show in March. “This is the perfect time of year for the businesses, as they are gearing up for warmer, busier months, and it is a great time of year for families to plan projects around the house. Once it gets warmer outside, everyone is busy with traveling, sports, and outdoor activities,” says Marcus Holland, director of the Centralia chamber of commerce. Cooking with Schwartz Orchard’s Nancy James will be a featured demonstration on Saturday at 11:00am and Sunday at 12:00pm. More demonstrations are being scheduled through the weekend to educate and entertain guests. It is $2 admission for adults and free for kids under 12. Door prizes will be given out every 20 minutes donated by exhibitors. “Another thing that brings out a lot of people is the discounted blood panel executive screening vouchers. This test normally costs a lot of money or a co-pay at a doctors visit. Instead, it is only $39 and the vouchers can be purchased at the SSM Health St. Mary Primary Care booth all weekend,” says Holland. The executive blood panel vouchers are $39, and the panel includes:
In the past, the screenings have offered a blood draw at the event. Instead, people can buy the voucher and use it in the next 30 days at their convenience. “We hear from families every year that come for the blood panel voucher, because it has helped a family member discover an ailment or issue with their cholesterol, thyroid, or blood counts. We feel that it saves lives!” adds Holland. The Home Expo is at the Centralia Recreation Complex, which offers an indoor swimming pool, indoor track, and exercise programs for people of all ages. On Saturday, from 8:00am to 10:00am, Bud Davis and his motorized, remote controlled Yacht Club boats are available for kids of all ages to play in the pool area. “We hope families and individuals are looking for something to do, a project to start, or shopping with our local businesses. Come out and see us this weekend!” invites Holland. ###
